Preservation and care of the deceased: historical activities.
Preservation of the deceased was one of the turning points in the history of Hygeco Post Mortem Assistance. In 1945, we started to offer care of the deceased using dry ice, which made it possible to delay changes in the body's cells. But this process had certain disadvantages: no aesthetic benefits for the deceased, the need to repeat the care process every day, etc. As a response to this situation, Hygeco Post Mortem Assistance decided to introduce a new approach in France in 1963, known as thanatopraxy. This activity has become indispensable to our business in the course of time. As a pioneer in the French market, we have moreover helped to expand this approach by developing new fluids and tools that are more suitable for the needs of thanatopractitioners.
